Greetings, just some photos of torsion spring yoke assembly. I still have to cut slide holes in the mounting plates. Enjoy the day.

Greetings, I still have to add spring shaft adjustment to tighten all the belts at the same time. I made the belt pulleys double the width to allow for easier belt to pulley alignment, this will also allow the belts to self track. Fabrication of the first one is going slow but so far the results appears to indicate that it will work. Enjoy the day.

Great work ! :!:

(You need green and blue colours for some gear wheels.)

Greetings, project update:
Timing belts and pulleys are installed on a test rig. Because the pulleys are made using two pieces I was able to bevel each piece toward the center of the pulley. This forces the belts to track toward the center of the pulley so a lip is not required. I have to find the correct tool to bend the spring into the correct shape. This a first attempt but it appears to be working. The spring pulls on the top and bottom of the movable shaft and all belts have tension. Again this is a experiment and a learning experience, I do not know how long the belts will last. The next step is to mount it on the PMA and perform a road test. The current configuration is a 1 : 6 ratio.

Greetings, I am working on a simplified belt drive. It is a 1: 7 ratio synchronous belt transmission. The belts are very flexible and the pulleys are notched to match the belts.
Comments welcome.

Hi, I completed a road test and compared the results with a test made earlier. The difference was the geared ratio. Basically the first test used a 3:1 ratio on the gear drive and the second test had 7:1 ratio using a belt drive. The results where basically the same until 30 MPH and then test unit using the 7:1 ratio stalled and the output started to decrease when compared with the results from the test using 3:1 gear drive. I also noticed that I never tested the new blade configuration without a gear or belt drive. I can test the current blade configuration without a gear or belt drive. I am puzzled when comparing the test result and do not know what to conclude. Comments welcome.

Hi, thanks. I am finally able to fabricate all the parts. I more than double the geared ratio, I was expecting to see a increase in the output at the lower wind speed. The outputs are basically the same until 30 MPH. I do not understand why. Before I start making changes to the PMA, I want to have the mechanic working as well as possible. The only thing I think of is the geared ratio is to high and the added load of the transmission combine with the PMA load has produced the same numbers. The output results above 30 MPH are different, indicating the geared ratio is to high for the size blades I am testing with. I do not understand why the output did not improve at the lower wind speeds. Comments welcome

How did you measure the output result, did you meaure the load into a battery ?

Hi, yes I used a 12 volt deep cell battery as a test load. I was reading about shaft power. This is my first attempt, could it be that is the maximum shaft power at those wind speed? I am fabricating and testing a similar sized C rotor or J shape in a few days and I will post results when available. Basically there are three factors I can change, the blades, the gear ratio, and the stators. Thanks for any help received. Best regards
